My take:
Say you’re an “aspiring” musician.
(Why don’t we say that? You’re a musician or you’re not a musician.)
You play the classics, the masters, over and over for hours every day of the year. Only then do you play before an audience, much less begin to “interpret” a piece of music or be so brave as to compose something original.
